RAGE - The Werewolf: The Apocalypse Collectible Trading Card Game
The Wyrm Expansion
THE WYRM
Rules Additions
(2 cards come with each booster pack)
New Card Types
Bane Fetishes
Wyrm Fetishes are called Bane Fetishes. Any Wyrm character can be
equipped with a Bane Fetish.
Board Meetings
Board meetings take place during the Moot Phase. They are, for all
intents and purposes, synonymous with moots.
Wyrm packs cannot be affected by Garou moots. Gaia packs cannot
likewise be affected by board meetings.
In order for a board meeting or a moot to be called, there must be at
least 2 players in the game playing packs of the same allegiance. In
other words, 2 Gaia packs must be present before a moot can be called, and
at least 2 Wyrm packs must be present for a board meeting.
Personal Totems
Played as an Event, a Personal Totem is very similar to a Pack Totem.
A character must meet the Personal Totem's requirements before it can be
brought into play. Once in play, the Personal Totem can only benefit the
individual who brought it into play.
Victims
The Hunting Grounds remain intact, however now they're filled with
victims as well as enemies. These victims can be killed by the Wyrm
Creatures for victory points. Gaia alphas have the option of fighting in
the place of a victim, thus defending that victim. Wyrm alphas can
likewise defend the enemies in the Hunting Grounds. Any alpha defending a
target in the Hunting Grounds must declare this right after the initla
attack is declared. In the case of multiple alphas declaring defense, the
privilege of defending goes to the highest Renown alpha among them.
Example: Mike, Todd, Justin and Lori are playing a game of Rage.
Mike and Lori are playing Wyrm packs, while Justin and Todd are playing
pathetic, Johnny-do-well Gaia packs. Todd declares that his alpha, True
Silverheels, will attack a nearly helpless Furmling in the Hunting
Grounds. At this point both Mike and Lori's alphas have the option of
defending. Mike declares that his alpha, Uncle Freddy (Renown 3) will
defend; Lori also decides that her alpha, Zhyzhak (Renown 9) will defend.
Since only 1 alpha can defend an enemy (or a victim in the case of Gaia
alphas), the defense goes to the highest Renown alpha, Zhyzhak. Zhyzhak
would then proceed to pound the hell out of True Silverheels.
Wyrm Gifts
In order to use a Gift, a Wyrm character must meet either their
personal requirements (i.e. 7th Generation, Iliad Fomori or Black Spiral
Dancer) or meet their aspect requirement (i.e. Defiler, Beast-of-War or
Eater-of-Souls). The character must also meet the Gnosis requirement of
the Gift in question.
Existing Card Types
Gaia Gifts and Fetish Equipment
Wyrm characters cannot use Gaia Gifts or fetish equipment, unless
special card-based circumstances permit it. Likewise Gaia characters
cannot use Wyrm Gifts or Bane Fetishes.
Enemies and Victims
While an alpha can attack anything in the Hunting Grounds, Gaia
alphas gain no victory points for killing a victim. Likewise, Wyrm alphas
do not gain victory points for killing an enemy.
(card 2)
Effects that Target Enemies vs. Effects that Target Wyrm Creatures
There are several existing card types that specifically target Wyrm
creature or enemies. Some may seem confusing when applied to the
characters introduced with this expansion. However, the rule of thumb is
quite simple. If a card or effect uses the term /enemy/ then it will only
affect an enemy card in the Hunting Grounds. If the terminology used is
/Wyrm creature/ or /Wyrm opponent/, then it will work against characters
and allies of the Wyrm.
New Characters/Terms
7th Generation - Occult conspirators, the 7th Generation lives in
secret. They serve the Wyrm through the subtle manipulation of society.
The 7th Generation is organized into 5 different castes, depending upon a
specific member's specialty. The castes are: Government, Business,
Medical, Snatcher and Warrior. Members of the 7th Generation cannot
regenerate, frenzy or step sideways.
Black Spiral Dancers - Evil werewolves who have been twisted and
corrupted by the Wyrm. The Black Spiral Dancers are the Wyrm's true
warriors. Black Spiral Dancers can regenerate, frenzy and step sideways.
Pentex - This mega corporation works to despoil the earth and corrupt
all that is pure. Pentex has both executives and Fomori in its employ.
Fomori - Once human, these poor souls (some willing, some not)
have been warped in mind and body and now wield fantastic powers.
Fomori cannot regenerate, but can frenzy. Fomori cannot step
sideways.
Illiad - The physically mutated subjects of "Project Iliad"
may seem innocent at first; however, when they switch into their
formidable Battle forms, they reveal their true nature.
Odyssey - The subjects of "Project Odyssey" have honed
their mental powers to new heights. They are the psychics and
wield impressive mental powers.
Executives - The silent few who call the shots. They are normal
people for the most part, but hold considerable influence and are
noted for being strong leaders. Executives cannot regenerate, frenzy
or step sideways.
Banes - Evil spirits who exist within the veil of a host body. Banes
are the Wyrm's vanguard in the Umbra. Character Banes are some of the
most powerful Banes, as they have the will to act freely. Bane characters
are not affected by Gifts that specifically affect spirits, nor can they
be bound. Bane characters can also ignore special abilities that
specifically affect Banes. Banes can regenerate, frenzy and step
sideways.
Ananasi - Werespiders who usually serve Gaia. The Hatars (or Goblin
Spiders), however, are corrupt and now serve the Wyrm. Ananasi can
regenerate, frenzy and step sideways.
Rokea - Weresharks who are usually quite reclusive. The Rokea only
rarely travel to the surface world. Rokea can regenerate, frenzy and step
sideways.
Abomination - An Abomination is a werewolf who has been turned into a
vampire. These are rare creatures indeed. Abominations are always
outcast from Garou society. They can regenerate, frenzy and step
sideways.
Aspects of the Wyrm
There are 3 aspects of the Wyrm and every character serves either the
Defiler, the Eater-of-Souls or the Beast-of-War. The character's Wyrm
aspect defines which totems and Gifts are accessible to that character.
